Active Watford Community Sports Network brings together all key stakeholders from across the Borough that play a role in sport and physical activity development. These include Watford Borough Council, School Sports Partnerships, YMCA Watford, Community Voluntary Services Watford, Leisure Operators, Watford Football Club Sports and Education Trust, Saracens, and local community sport clubs amongst others. In 2007 the network was created with support from Hertfordshire Sports Partnership and Sport England, and now in 2009 the network is going from strength to strength and is continuing to attract investment into sport and physical activity locally.

Aims and objectives

Active Watford CSN's main aim is to get more people participating in sport and physical activity more often.  However, its wider aims and objectives are a lot broader, and include:

• making sport more widely accessible to target groups (for example women and girls, BME communities, people with disabilities)
• co-ordinating and planning for sport jointly to avoid duplication of efforts
• sharing information with key stakeholders and communities
• using sport as a community development tool to improve health, reduce anti social behaviour and bring communities together
