Main sources of funding

Active Watford

Active Watford Community Sports Network looks for sources of funding on a regular basis to set up new projects and programmes for the community to access! Local sports clubs and organisations play a major role in delivering these and we encourage you to get in touch to via the contact us page to see if you can apply.

To give you a clearer idea of some of the projects we have funded in the past, please take a look at our action plans.

Sport England
Sport England Logo

The Government through Sport England has invested in grassroots community sport. A Small Grants Programme has been set up to support local community sport projects which seek to increase participation, sustain participation or develop opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport. Grants are available for projects up to £10,000. Examples of good application might include, sports clubs aiming to expand the age range they caters for by training additional coaches or by working in partnership with youth clubs to get more young people playing sport.

Whatever your project idea, it is a good idea to visit the Sport England website for more information: -

Live Wire / Sport Unlimited
 Livewire Logo
Live Wire/Sport Unlimited is an innovative new youth sports programme which cascades funding to local communities via the Hertfordshire Sports Partnership.
Any club or organisation can apply that is looking to provide high quality opportunities targeted at young people who may have some interest in sport, but aren’t particularly engaged with community sport.
The main criteria is that local providers organise normally, a 10-week block of high-quality sessions designed to inspire young people to sign up for longer-term participation in local clubs/groups.
Hertfordshire Sport Partnership administers the Live Wire programme across the county and can provide advice and guidance on applications. To apply or for an informal chat about your project, please contact them on:
